Savannah, Georgia is a drinking capital. It has a city law that excites “the hostess city” tourist, the ability to possess or consume an alcoholic beverage in a plastic container. It is a place where bars and restaurants are opening all the time.  Savannah’s downtown is always filled with tourists, locals, and college students who enjoy the city’s drinking culture.

I recently turned twenty-one and being able to experience the night life in Savannah has been a blast. I’ve discovered many dive bars, exotic handcrafted cocktails, rooftop bars, extraordinary mixologists, you name it. My newest adventure included exploring places that offer a “Happy Hour” in the city. I compiled a list of my top 5 best “Happy Hour” places around “the hostess city”. These top 5 places were chosen based on their atmosphere and how great of a drink special they offer.

1. B&D Burgers (Southside)

B&D burgers is located on 11108 Abercorn St., Southside Savannah. This local restaurant is a perfect place to grab a quick beer or a simple cocktail. From Monday through Friday they offer happy hour from 4-7 PM. Their discounts include half of on any local draft beers, half of glasses of wine, and $2 off on top shelf liquor. They have many televisions for customers that want to enjoy sport events and they also have outdoor sitting for customers who like to take in some sun.

Drink Recommendation:  Southbound Scattered Sun Belgian Wit (Beer)

Perch is a rooftop bar above the restaurant Local11ten. It is located on 1110 Bull st. This place is perfect to grab a drink and relax with friends, or perhaps make new ones. While enjoying a drink at Perch, customers can also admire the views just south of Forsyth Park. Their happy hour is available Monday through Friday from 5-6 PM. They also offer appetizers and dessert such as cheese, charcuterie, and sorbet. On Thursday nights they have live music for their customers to enjoy.

Drink Recommendation: Jalapeno lime spritzer (cocktail)

3.  The Ordinary Pub

The Ordinary Pub is perfect to enjoy a couple of cocktails and bar bites for a very low price. The aesthetic of this restaurant is simply southern, with a twist of modern. This place is located in the heart of Savannah’s historic downtown on 217 West Broughton St. The Ordinary Pub offers happy hour specials seven days a week from 3-7 PM. Their happy hour specials include $3 craft beers, half price bar bites, and half off well liquor. They also serve weekday brunch and offer $10  bottomless mimosas Monday-Friday from 10AM-4PM.

Drink Recommendation: Deep Eddy & Q ginger beer mule (cocktail)

4. Mellow Mushroom

If you’re a beer lover, you’ll love this happy hour spot. Mellow Mushroom has been previously voted as best happy hour spot in Savannah. If you don’t believe me, you should definitely go check this place for yourself. Mellow Mushroom is located on 11 West Liberty St. They have happy hour Monday through Friday from 4-7 PM. Their happy hour includes $2-$3 draft beer specials which can include anything from a cider to a stout.

Drink Recommendation: Abita Purple Haze Lager (Beer)

5. Co

One of my favorite places to have inexpensive drinks and bar bites. This asian restaurant is located downtown on 10 Whitaker St. They offer Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 5-7 PM. They offer happy hour bar bites, which include items like edamame, California rolls, and salmon carpaccio that range from $3-$5. During happy hour, you can order $3 sake, $4 draft beer or select wine, and/ or a $5 signature craft cocktail.

Drink Recommendation: Blackberry Bourbon Fizz (cocktail)

If are looking for a quick, inexpensive drink I hope you consider to explore one of these bars or restaurants, and enjoy being a part of Savannah’s drinking culture. Don’t Forget to tip your bartender!
